Amazon Pay payment method in your online store.

Amazon Pay is a payment system from Amazon.com. With this payment service Amazon offers its users the option to order from external websites with a user account. The payment process of Amazon Pay is very similar to PayPal. In June 2017, the e-commerce company launched the Amazon Pay service in a number of countries. Later that year, the payment solution was also available in France, Italy and Spain

How Amazon Pay works.

Your customer places an order and chooses Amazon Pay in the checkout and is redirected to the login screen of the payment method. After this, the user chooses a payment method (credit card, bank card or another option) from which the payment is debited. With the button: 'confirm' the Amazon Pay transactions are 'reserved'.

With Pay. you can easily set when the payment should be transferred from 'reserved' to 'paid'. This can be done immediately or within an hour. You can set this option via the API or the Pay. Admin Panel.

Receive Amazon Payments.

You receive the funds directly from Amazon. You can view your transactions by exporting them from your Admin Panel. The turnover can be found in the column 'external turnover'.

Partial or full repayment of orders can be done via Pay. or via Amazon. If you choose Amazon Pay, you could get turnover differences. The same applies when consumers create a dispute via Pay: consequences might occur. However, when you refund via Pay, we will contact Amazon Pay in the process. Amazon Pay also determines the rates per merchant. This means that Pay. only charges costs for making the transaction possible. In this process, Pay. functions as a Distributing Payment Service Provider (DPSP).

Amazon Pay in your webshop.
First you need to create an account via Amazon Pay. After creating an account you can add the payment method to your webshop via the Admin Panel. You must provide the URLs that you use, as well as an additional URL from Pay. This way linking the payment method to your webshop can be confirmed.

Amazon is licensed as a financial services provider in Luxembourg while Pay. has been licensed by the Dutch regulator. Both institutions are located in the EU, which means that the same laws and regulations apply to both parties. Therefore please take into account standard questions that relate to your UBO, identification, address, copy of statement and Chamber of Commerce.
